Kara’s journey shows how its possible to successfully gain a qualification and get a career whilst being a young mother!
“Its all about commitment to your studies and getting help from the supportive learning environment ET Australia offers” says Kara.
Kara joined ET Australia in 2008 at the age of 19 looking for an opportunity to start her career. Not sure what she wanted to do, Kara enrolled in ET Australia’s pre-vocational Business program to gain some employability skills that could be used in any industry. She successfully completed her program and decided Childcare would be a great career choice. Kara’s career aspirations when on hold for a few years when she decided to have children. In 2014 Kara was able to return to ET Australia to complete a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education, followed by her Diploma in Early Learning Education. ET Australia provided the individual support and learning framework Kara required to juggle the demands of study and raising her family.
“One of the most helpful things ET Australia did was organise my work placement with a wonderful centre” says Kara.
Work placement hours must be completed by students with a host employer to achieve their qualification. ET Australia uses our extensive network of organisations to help our students find and secure work placemnt opportunities that could lead to employment.
ET Australia organised Kara’s work placement with Active Littlies where Kara gained valuable work experience in the industry and was offered a casual employment at the Centre.
Kara gained full time employment with Active Littllies and credits the ET Australia staff and trainer support to her career development.
