A Wonderful Example of How VET Can Change Someone’s Career.

Meet Rebecca Greene.

Rebecca was born and bred on the Central Coast and is a wonderful example of how Vocational Education and Training (VET) can change the course of someone’s career.

In 2013, Rebecca completed her HSC at Wyong High School and then began travelling worldwide. In between adventures, Rebecca worked in retail on and off before commencing a full-time Traineeship through Central Coast Group Training (CCGT) with one of their host employers.

This traineeship gave Rebecca the opportunity to commence a BSB30115 Certificate III in Business whilst working and receiving an income.

Unfortunately, due to a variety of unfortunate circumstances, Rebecca was not able to complete her traineeship with this host employer and returned to casual work in the retail industry.

During this period, Rebecca stayed in touch with her Field Officer from CCGT and when the opportunity arose for a Trainee Receptionist at CCGT, her Field Officer knew exactly who to call.

Rebecca was referred for the role, interviewed and very quickly offered the position. This not only meant she could return to full-time employment, but she was able to pick up her traineeship right where she left off with her previous host employer.

Rebecca completed her BSB30115 Certificate lll in Business in early 2018 and as she was considered such a wonderful employee CCGT kept her on full time. In July 2018 she was given a well-deserved promotion, working in recruitment for CCGT.

Rebecca spent the next four months gaining valuable experience by assisting her colleagues in writing job advertisements and screening/interviewing candidates. By the end of 2018, she was working independently with host employers.

These days, no two days are the same for Rebecca. Her role is varied and her time is spent liaising with host employers, writing job advertisements, screening candidates who have applied for roles and interviewing them. In June 2019, Rebecca decided to further her education by enrolling in a BSB41015 Certificate IV in Human Resources and with the support of CCGT is completing her second VET qualification.

Since starting with CCGT, Rebecca advised she has gained independence as she has been able to move out of home and pay off her car. She has also grown personally and professionally in her career journey.

Rebecca’s goals for the upcoming future include finishing her BSB41015 Certificate IV in Human Resources as well as saving enough money to buy her own house.

ET Australia Training College is glad to have played a hand in such a bright-looking future for Rebecca, and we congratulate her on all of her amazing efforts so far.
