Whether the word ‘technology’ makes you shudder with fear, or you embrace the latest tech trends with open arms, there’s no question using digital tools to your studying advantage can have a positive impact on your educational journey.

Here are five of our favourite apps to give you the edge and assist you with managing your studies, alongside your personal life and other interests.

  1. Google Keep, Evernote and OneNote (Ok, we cheated and gave you three for the price of one here).

These apps sync across all your devices and allow you to capture text, images, even voice memos whenever and wherever you are. After all, you never know when you might get a flash of inspiration for your coursework, or you could get some extra studying time in while waiting for a train.

With seamless functionality and an extremely user friendly design, there’s no surprise that Evernote founder Stephan Pachikov thinks of his invention as an ‘extension to the human brain’.

  1.  Grammarly

No more typos, incorrect grammar, awkward phrasing and clumsy sentence structures with this super app. Grammarly is the millennial version of Microsoft Word’s ‘spell-check’, making everything you write easy to read, effective and mistake free.

  1. Pocket

You know when you’re scrolling through your social feed and come across a great article to reference in your latest assignment, but don’t have time to read it right then and there? Well, that’s what Pocket is for.

And the great thing about this app is, you don’t even need to have wifi to read the content later. The app claims to have saved 2 billion items so far globally, and counting…

  1. Wunderlist

This app makes to do lists fun. Sure there’s a calendar feature, to keep track of your classes, workshops and study groups, but there is also so much more. You can share lists with other users from all of your devices, set reminders and deadlines, as well as attach notes and files to your tasks.

Plus, it’s really simple to use and makes your lists look neat and organised.

  1. Voice Typing in Google Docs

You’re probably familiar with Google Docs, the cloud based platform allowing online access to word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, making it easy to edit anywhere on any device and share with others to collaborate.

But ‘voice typing’ takes it one step further, open a Google Doc and dictate your notes into your computer microphone and it’ll translate them into text for you. Trust us it saves a ton of time, freeing you up to going back to managing your to do list.

If your next level tech savy you could always look at making your own unique app as well to assist with your studies.

With tools like this at your disposal, studying in the digital age has never been easier, giving the tech savvy student amongst us a definite advantage.
