Course Summary

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

As well as assuming responsibility for their own performance, individuals at this level provide leadership, guidance and support to others. They also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of their team.

They apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements.

Students will require well developed language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills relevant to the context of his or her role. LLN skills will be evaluated during the enrolment process to ensure that persons enrolling in the program have the skills to complete all training and assessment.

This program has been designed for a student who is employed. Students must have the support of their workplace to undertake their study. Students must have the opportunity to complete assessment tasks in the context of the workplace.


All students who undertake this qualification are provided with advice on employment and training options.

Study Pathways; Students who successfully complete this qualification may consider furthering their studies to a higher level in a related field eg BSB51915 Diploma of Leadership and Management.

Study Modes

Study modes for this qualification include:

Employment Based Traineeship – An employment based traineeship allows for delivery on the job (Central Coast and Newcastle regions only) with a Trainer and Assessor conducting workplace monitoring and assessments visits. Duration – 24 months full time (part time traineeships also available)

Blended mode – Training is delivered in a blended mode of self-paced learning and one-on-one facilitated learning (Central Coast and Newcastle regions only)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – RPL is suitable for those who already have the skills, knowledge and experience and who can provide current evidence of competence. RPL is available for part of, or a full qualification.
