Course Summary

This entry-level qualification allows individuals across a variety of industry sectors to develop basic skills and knowledge to prepare for work. They may undertake a range of simple tasks under close supervision. The range of technical skills and knowledge is limited.

Employment Opportunities

This is an entry level qualification.  This qualification provides foundation business skills to support a wide range of varying industry occupations.

The 6 units of competency that comprise the qualification include: –

  • 1 core unit plus
  • 5 elective units

Entry Requirements

Students will require access to a computer and the internet to complete this qualification (access to computers / internet is provided for classroom based study). In addition, the following software may be required depending on subjects being undertaken:
• Microsoft Office applications to suit subjects chosen e.g. Word, Excel

All students who undertake this qualification are provided with advice on employment and training options.

Study Pathways; Students who successfully complete this qualification have the underpinning knowledge and skills to continue their studies in BSB20115 Certificate II in Business

Study Modes

Study modes for this qualification include: –

Classroom based learning – Allows for a Trainer-led approach where the Trainer and the student meet in a classroom for a specific duration of time in a common location. Classroom based learning allows students to participate in group activities, group learning and group discussions.

Self-paced learning – Self-paced learning allows learners the flexibility to study at times that are suitable. Learners can work through learning material independently knowing that a dedicated Trainer and Assessor is available for support if required. Print based or computer based learning materials are available. This style of study suits students who have good time management skills and who don’t need structured face to face sessions.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – RPL is suitable for those who already have the skills, knowledge and experience and who can provide current evidence of competence. RPL is available for part of, or a full qualification.
